Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy: Manual and instrumental therapy
Musculoskeletal physiotherapy is a specialized area of physiotherapy dedicated to the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of painful syndromes and functional alterations of muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints and bones, whether due to injuries of traumatic or orthopaedic origin, rheumatic diseases or sports injuries.
The PhysiUZerapy group’s research line in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy focuses on validating manual and instrumental therapy procedures, which constitute the fundamental pillars of physiotherapy intervention in this area of specialization.
The line develops its research in different regions or pathologies, with the following objectives:
Muscle-tendon dysfunctions
Physiotherapy of muscle-tendon dysfunctions aims to analyze the effects of manual and instrumental techniques on muscle-tendon dysfunctions of the lower and upper quadrants.
Arthrosis
Our research about osteoarthritis focuses on validating the basic principles of translatory joint mobilization to achieve different therapeutic effects, such as the dosage of manual joint mobilization techniques. We analyze the effects of manual therapy techniques in treating patients with osteoarthritis of the lower limbs, as well as the effects of invasive therapy in treating patients with osteoarthritis of the lower limbs.
Hand pathology
At PhysiUZerapy, we have experience treating hand pathologies. We have designed and validated assessment systems for the main hand and finger injuries in climbing. Another of our objectives is to analyze the effects of manual and instrumental physiotherapy treatment on the main hand and finger injuries in climbing.
